CUNY BECAS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Jaime Lucero Mexican Studies Institute at CUNY is proud to offer scholarships of up to $6530 to current and prospective CUNY undergraduate and graduate students. Past recipients may reapply for additional funding (use “Returning applicant” form). Scholarship winners are selected based on academic achievement, financial need, and commitment to service in the Mexican and/or immigrant community. CUNY BECAS scholarship primarily aids students with little or no access to financial aid. The selection committee does not discriminate based on immigration status, race, gender, age, ethnicity, or national origin. All are welcome to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

NEW CUNY Becas Applicants

  • Have graduated or will graduate from high school or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma by the end of the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Intend to enroll full time in an associate or baccalaureate program at a CUNY Campus in Fall 2018 AND Spring 2019
  • OR If a Graduate Student, must intend to enroll full time in a master’s degree program either Fall 2018 OR Spring 2019
  • Must demonstrate significant financial need

LAGUARDIA FOUNDATION SCHOLARHSHIP

LaGuardia Community College Foundation Scholarships are made possible by contributions from generous donors who believe that deserving students like you should have a quality education without the financial burden. If you are eligible, the Foundation offers support to assist you with the rising cost of tuition, textbooks, transportation and fees associated with attending college.

 

 

Award: Varies based on need

DREAMERS - THE DREAM.US Scholarship 

(DACA or TPS Students). The scholarship provides up to $25,000 to first-time college students who intend to enroll in a CUNY college and community college graduates who want to earn a bachelor’s degree.

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Founded in 1975, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Latino students, as well as related support services.  HSF seeks to give students all the tools they need to apply to college, do well in their course work, graduate, enter a profession, excel, help lead our nation going forward, and mentor the generations to come.

 

 

Award: $500 - $5,000

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students

  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for College and Graduate Students

  • Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university, or graduate school, during the FALL of a scholarship cycle (year)

  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)

  • Complete FAFSA or state based financial aid application (if applicable)

 

ECUADORIAN SCHOLAS FUND

 

This scholarship is intended to assist students in the Tri-State area of New York, in paying costs related expenses for their studies at educational institutions in the United States. The organization will use information from the Department of Education and/or local universities to verify that students meet the criteria for these scholarships.

 

Award: Up to $1,000
