This course is a basic orientation to the organization of health care systems in New York City and the position of the health care
worker within these systems. Topics will include health careers,
the nature of health and disease, prevention of disease, public
health measures, types of facilities, payment sources, medical care available and future trends. Visits to local health facilities (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes) are included.
