Beginners Explorations in Algebraic Geometry (formerly Elementary Algebraic Geometry) is a Graduate Center seminar for students and faculty in a form of a problem session. The seminar was founded by Roy Berglund (City Tech, BMCC), Malgorzata Marciniak (LaGuardia) and Shenglan Yuan (LaGuardia) in 2015.

Contact Malgorzata Marciniak (mmarciniak@lagcc.cuny.edu) for questions and schedule.

DURING SPRING 2018 WE WILL MEET ON THURSDAYS 1:45-2:45 PM IN GRADUATE CENTER ROOM 4214.03.

The first (organizational) meeting is scheduled on March 8 and the last meeting on May 10, excluding March 22 for IPDM conference at LaGuardia and April 5 for spring break at LaGuardia.

We will follow Chapter 1, 2, and 4 from the book by Joseph Silverman The Arithmetic of Dynamical Systems, Graduate Texts in Mathematics 241, 2007
We will use CoCalc (SAGE) or another software to solve and illustrate problems that we pose or find in the book. All presentations are “hands-on” with the emphasis on posing questions and making attempts.
