About Me

Hola! My name is Amalia Rojas; I am a Mexican American writer! I was born in Mexico City, México but I was raised in New York City. I am a young artist, attempting to make name for herself. I have always loved the arts, and I think it is particularly because my parents always had to work and I had nothing better to do but use my imagination. I began writing at a very young age, wanting to be a novelist but turning into more of poet and playwright. My interest in the theater came when I was ten years old and my mother took me to see my first play” Mama Mia”. I like to think of myself as a spontaneous, bubbly, warm person. I believe a smile can change someone’s day. However, I am also very serious when it comes down to getting my academic work done. I care very much about my education therefore I am always striving to achieve all I can. This summer I will be attending a summer student transfer program with Vassar College, it is an elite and very prestigious school. I was chosen along with another small group of students from other community colleges to complete a semester at Vassar. I am very excited for this summer and I believe I will be a great asset to the program both academically and socially.
