ENG 101 - Composition I
Spring 2013
Prof. Daniel Colleran
Course description: In this course students wrote coherent essays in varied academic formats, both in and out of class, responding to culturally diverse materials and using appropriate technology. Students focused on critical and analytical skills through reading and listening and studied aspects of argumentation including formulating thesis; researching and identifying sources; evaluating and documenting sources; and communicating persuasively across contexts, purposes, and media. Admission was based on college placement test scores. The course met in four scheduled classroom hours per week.
Course Reflection: This course was totally different from what I though it was going to be. I had so much fun while I was learning how to write college-level essays. Plus, the topics that I had to develop in my papers were interesting and useful. For instance, topics about media, wars, and technology. I was able to include my critical and analytical skills in all my papers.
