About Me

My name is Yadira Arevalo Rodriguez; I was born in Cuenca-Ecuador. I can describe myself as serious, strict, funny and friendly. Well I came to NY two years ago. I am here since 2013. In the beginning I thought that learning English was difficult but I forced myself to learn as much as I can. So, I studied in the Clip program at LGCC and they helped me a lot with my English. For this reason, I’m in the College right now.

However, most of the people ask me if I miss my country, of course I do. My family and my friends live there. So, one day after working hard I will see them and they will see how much I grown. They all be proud of myself. Also, all my dreams were focus on my country but when I came to NY, I completely changed my mind. I want to get experience in the field of justice because in my country many people die every day and nobody does anything about it.

Moreover, I’m upset when I read or watch TV about my country because the corruption is increasing. Practically, I could say that money makes you free. People kill others and they easily get out of jail paying good amounts to the police. That’s not fair but in USA crime demands punishment even if you have money. People can't avoid the punishment. That’s why I want to study Criminal Justice because the law must be respected for everybody.

Something that encouraged me to study Criminal Justice was the way how police and detectives work in this country. The law must be respected and most of the murder cases have the beginning and the ending point.

Finally, I want to be detective. So, my future plans are graduating from LGCC and moving on to John Jay College.
