Principles of Accounting 1

Course Reflection

I was so happy with what I learned in this class. In the very first week, I was able to get a clear grasp of the accounting equation, which had eluded me for so long. This class was very time and effort intensive though. I spent a lot of time not only in class, but also working out problem sets, reading the text, taking notes from the text and doing additional research to fully understand the course content.

So much groundwork was set for how the mechanics of accounting works. Learning the basic concepts and principles of accounting also changed my approach to money in general from being somewhat organized to being thoroughly systematic. By the end of the class I had a good grasp of financial statements and how to read them, which had been my major goal for the class. I also had a good grasp of the accounting cycle and by the end of the class could set up and manage the accounting for a sole proprietorship.
