The Title of this reflection is "Pay It Forward," because your response helps other students.

If you were to be on a team to help design this course, what would you do differently?

I think the course and it's objectives are excellent. What I would do differently, would be to have more personal guidance and feedback (for those who want and need it). As a more mature and conscientious student I was able to get a lot out the readings, assignments and reflections, but I worry that some of my less mature classmates may not. Perhaps some feedback on assignments and writings as they were completed could have been helpful.

A substitute or addition to feedback could have been some exemplary examples of reflections written by other students. For example, when we first started the eportfolios, we looked at recommended eportfolios of other students to get an idea of what we should do. I think that would be helpful throughout the class as well as widening our scope of ideas and having good role models.

Therefore, what worked in this course?

The course material, objectives, use of eportfolio, assignments, teaching. Pretty much everything about this course was vital and important.

What didn't?

Aside from my answer to the top question, I can't think of anything that didn't work.

What would you have liked to learn more about?

I would like to have done some sort of career inventory / testing along the lines of the personality testing we took (ie. what careers we might be best suited for).

I would have liked to have heard some more real life stories of other LaGuardia business students, the paths they took, the obstacles they had to overcome and where they are now.

Less about?

The class was pretty lean and efficient, having the right quantity of information on each topic.

If this weren't a required course, would you recommend that students take it? Why or why not?

I would recommend it if weren't a required course, but it doesn't quite make as much sense in the present format for an elective. I think this is absolutely vital and should continue to be a required course. As a required course, I think it integrates perfectly into the college experience.

As a nonrequired course, I feel it would need more academic substance and depth than it has in it's present state, especially if it were to be a 3 credit course. As a nonrequired course, it should be more rigorous and students should come out with a more definite skill set.
