Say goodbye to career planning: Tim Clark at TEDxPlainpalais

I question the wisdom of making career choices based on "craving excitement". Luckily, Tim Clark seems to have done ok for himself. I also don't quite buy the idea that career planning doesn't work. It seems pretty clear to me that Tim Clark didn't do enough career planning or perhaps didn't do it in the right way. And so it's probably folly to follow his advice, though there is value in the idea that it's ok if one's career has been eractic and unpredictable.

Yes, according to google, "career" as a verb means "move swiftly and in an uncontrolled way in a specified direction," however as a noun it means "an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress" and "the time spent by a person while committed to a particular profession" and "the progress through history of an institution or organization" and "working permanently in or committed to a particular profession" and derives from the latin carrus, 'wheeled vehicle.'

His idea of modelling as a replacement of planning is interesting though. I think using some of the insights and techniques from business modelling could be useful in creating a personal business plan.
