Intro. to Art History

 

Course Description:

This course is designed to develop the students’ ability “to see,” while it examines the fundamental nature, meaning and humanistic value of art. Attention will be given to an examination of the creative process and to the role of the spectator as an active participant in the understanding of Art. Relevant readings will be discussed in relation to specific works of Art. The function of basic compositional elements will be examined.

Reflection: This course helped me to understand, discuss and explore the art world through the examination of paintings. As an artist, this course was very helpful and interesting because it provided me the knowledge to comprehend, explore and learn the history of the most famous artists through the evaluation of their paintings. It was definitely an open door to a fascinating and indescribable new world.
