LaGuardia Community College Nursing Club is proud to participate in this year's

AIDS Walk New York

Sunday, May 21, 2017

AIDS Walk New York is a 10K fundraising walk starting and ending in Central Park. It is the largest single-day AIDS fundraising event in the world. The funds raised at the event remain a vital lifeline sustaining the prevention, care, and advocacy programs GMHC provides for the thousands of men, women, and families affected by the disease in the tri-state area. GMHC is the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. The proceeds also benefit dozens of other HIV/AIDS service organizations that are able to participate as teams and raise funds through the Community Partnership Program (CPP).

Please join us by signing up with our team at ny.aidswalk.net/LAGCCNursing. Walkers are encouraged to share this link with their friends and family to sponsor their walk. You don't have to walk to support this event — you can also donate without walking, share our team page on social media, or sign up to be a Virtual Walker to help us raise funds — BUT, keep in mind the afterparty for walkers is well known for being a great party. :) Please sign up to walk by Tuesday, May 2nd if you wish to get a t-shirt!

This is a great way to get a better understanding of how we as nurses need to look at the whole health of the patient, and how the patient's family and support system are also our clients. GMHC responded to the AIDS crisis well before any political body had the courage to do so, and continues to be a vital part of patient support and research funding in the New York City area.
