Keri Franklin Says: "This was my first Tai Chi class and I really enjoyed it. After the class I felt a little pain in my legs, but I was calmer and my breathing was stronger. It was a great experience."

Says: "Tai chi is one of the best on-campus activities that I have partaken. It is a form of a stress reliever, leaving a calm and happy feeling and learning about oneself. This one hour of tai chi class makes the entire week go by smoothly due to self-awareness, All thanks to Dr. Marciniak. "

Says: "Thank you so much Dr. Marciniak for establishing this interesting and worthy Tai Chi program at LaGuardia. As suggested, Tai Chi and many other forms of martial arts offer a variety of health and wellness benefits for practitioners at all levels. In addition to the obvious benefit of physical fitness, self defense, and mental well being, martial arts serve as very powerful forms of reconditioning and rehabilitation. Long regarded as complementary disciplines, the art of combat and the art of healing were practiced inseparably through the ages. My clinical practice in physical therapy and my treatment philosophy to rehabilitation pretty much followed this similar concept. I often tell my students and patients: "I train like I treat and I treat like I train" The principle of balance, control, and adaptability can be applied to many systems in our body, namely, cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and the nervous systems. The healing effect of martial arts is undisputed. I look forward to continue learning with you and other colleagues around the campus with this lifelong endeavor. "
