Educational & Career Goals

                   (giveyourselfaboost)

Upon the completion of my Associate degree at LaGuardia Community College, I plan to transfer to a senior college that offers a major  in Physician Assistant. I choose to be a Physician Assistant for many reasons. One of them is because I have a passion to work in the medical field and it also gives me the opportunity to work with people that will appreciate my services as a care giver. Another reason would be the fact that it keeps me moving and active throughout the day; sitting around behind a desk in a cubicle is not my scene. I like a career that is high paced and demanding, and that is just what a career like Physician Assistant delivers.

Being a student at LaGuardia Community College has taught me a lot in terms of preparation to become a Physician Assistant. During the Spring Break 2010, I participated in The Role Model Program sponsored by the Coalition of One Hundred Black Women. The program offered young women like me from CUNY colleges the opportunity to get exposed to the career we are studying toward. We had the opportunity to get mentored by professionals that were already working in that field. That and the fact that we visited actual work sites, gave me a feel of what to expect and look forward to when I graduate. Currently, I have recently joined The National health Institute Bridges Program which will help in terms of furthering my education by exposing me to the field of research as a way to advance my career and related fields of science.

At this moment, I am planning to transfer to The City College for the Physician Assistant program. I also targeted some other schools like York College, The Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, and SUNY Downstate.
