Introduction to Philosophy

Course: HUP 101

Semester: Fall I 2009

Professor:  Richard Brown

Course Description:

This course introduces students to the process of philosophical reflection. Utilizing the concept of freedom extensively, it seeks to develop the student's ability to analyze concepts and to explore life experience in a structured and coherent fashion. Students are encouraged to develop their perceptions by critically examining their own beliefs, attitudes and assumptions in light of the philosophical analyses they encounter.

Reflection: Before taking this class I was a little apprehensive. I must admit this class was tough, it involved a lot of rereading and still I would not understand the thoughts of these philosophers from many years ago. However, I did enjoy this class because I got to look at life from different perspectives. Even though many theories sounded off the wall, the points philosophers brought up and believed were mind blowing.
