Professional Goals

Getting my second degree this time in accounting will help me to combine my Ecuadorian degree and U.S degree. In my opinion, I think it’s a good step in my life since I have a broad understanding of South American economy and culture which will help me to determine how to get into the market in case some job opportunity offers me the chance to deal with Latino American countries.

I worked in Ecuador as a project assistant at PETROECUADOR, one of the country’s important oil companies.  As an assistant, I had the ability to observe how people manage the oil price volatility, and Iwas part of a wide range of projects. In addition, my communication skills improved tremendously in interacting among groups and making group decisions, which I believe are good tools to promote a healthy and effective work atmosphere.

This is why one of my short-term goals is to get the appropriate experience doing my internships which will increase my knowledge and sharpen my skills as well as my thoughts. I am confident I can help my future internship place achieve its goals, by putting into practice my educational background, my diverse ways of interacting among different groups, and my vision to all parties involved through being enrolled in all internship activities.

Beyond that for my long-term view, I will focus on the taxation field during the tax season and audit for the month’s leftover by running my own firm. This is the way I want to focus during my career path, and I think it is a way I can merge both my degrees.

One point that I don't want to forget is my volunteerism spirit. I will continue leading my community services projects, along with my career path. I have the desire to contribute back to this country which has opened its door to my family and I. And also, it has been a perfect tool to rediscover skills that I didn't even know I had.
